Arne Slot has the last laugh after what family member said about Liverpool
Arne Slot has been a massive breath of fresh air around the Liverpool camp since he came in to replace Jurgen Klopp.
The Dutchman has the Reds sitting at the top of both the Premier League and Champions League table at the moment, which is a testament to how well he’s managed to guide his team this season.
There have been times when it’s felt like the Merseyside outfit could slip up, such as their games against Nottingham Forest, but it only seemed to make them stronger and want to prove their ability to their fans and other teams in the league.
However, according to a report from Simon Mullock in the print edition of the Sunday Mirror [26 January, page 69] Slot’s dad rung him up to say Liverpool’s victory over Lille in their Champions League clash was a bit of a “yawn”.
“Liverpool’s manager had a laugh after revealing how his old man rang him up during the week to tell him that his team’s seventh successive victory in the group stages of the Champions League was a bit of a yawn,” he wrote.
“But, as usually happens when one team are so dominant that they win games without breaking sweat, the only stick left to beat them with is the fact they lack a bit of X factor.
“Arend Slot’s little poke at his son’s side might have been a bit too close to home.”
Arne Slot has last laugh at Liverpool
Due to the Reds’ sheer dominance across the board, it feels like people are trying to pick at small things to try and take Liverpool down a peg or two.
However, after the Reds cruised to a 4-1 victory over Ipswich on Saturday, it’s evident that Slot isn’t letting the talk get to him.
When Klopp exited Anfield, fans weren’t all that sure how to feel due to the connection the German had with both the fans and the city itself.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss lifted up an entire fanbase when things seemed to be somewhat flat.

So, it’s not a surprise that some fans were a tad sceptical about what the Dutchman could do to try and earn a similar sort of respect.
However, after the performances they’ve put in this season and what they’re likely to put in as we get into the latter stages of the campaign, it feels like Slot has managed to have to last laugh over his dad and those who doubt him.
In other Liverpool news, a Reds-linked forward has reached a £19million agreement with his club.
