Liverpool forward could be ruled out v Brentford in fresh injury blow
Arne Slot says Liverpool will have to make a late decision about the availability of Diogo Jota against Brentford.
Jota came on for the Reds in the 66th minute against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday (14 January) and had an instant impact scoring 21 seconds after coming onto the pitch to make the game 1-1.
Although he has struggled with injury this term, the forward has registered five goals and two assists in 13 appearances so far this season.
However, Slot confirmed he may have to cope without him again against Brentford as he said in his pre-match press conference: “Yeah, there is no doubt about the fact Jota is an important player for us.
“But he wasn’t on the training ground yesterday so that means today we have to see where he is so it’s not sure that he will be available for tomorrow. We will have to wait and see today.
“He felt a little bit when he came on a little niggle during the half hour he came on and he could finish the game but afterwards he complained a bit about it and that’s why he didn’t train yesterday.
“We’ll have to wait and see if he’s available today and then, of course, tomorrow.”
Diogo Jota may miss Liverpool v Brentford
Although Liverpool have been in excellent form this term, they will surely be looking at the trip to take on Brentford with some worry due to the Bees’ incredible home form this season.
Furthermore, Slot’s side have only one win in their last four games which came against Accrington Stanley, so there will be an eagerness to get some momentum going at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The Merseyside outfit have had no issues up front this season but Jota has certainly shown his impact with his goal return and impressive performances.

Therefore, you feel as though if he could stay fit, he would certainly only improve and prove to be an even bigger part of the side.
The Reds are still four points clear at the top of the table so there is no need for Slot to risk the 28-year-old on Saturday (18 January). However, the sooner he is fully fit, the better for Liverpool.
