Beard’s side has been crying out for quality with the Reds manager calling for new signings in January and he has been granted his wish already.

His side find themselves eighth in the Women’s Super League and have lost their last four matches without scoring a goal.

They did receive a slight boost on 7 January when Beard confirmed that Marie Hobinger and Sophie Roman Haug would return from injury shortly.

Kerr will add some vital elite experience to the squad, she has made more than 20 Women’s Champions League appearances across her stints with Bayern, Rangers and Glasgow City, with whom she reached the quarter-final stage in the 2019-20 season.

She is a serial winner having won five Scottish Women’s Premier Leagues and a Frauen-Bundesliga as well as a League Cup and a Scottish Cup.

That is exactly the type of addition that the Reds need as they seek to climb up the WSL table and salvage their season.
