Liverpool should break the bank for Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens after a recent reveal from Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist reported the Reds' interest in the 20-year-old sensation on his YouTube channel on 7 January.

He revealed that the Black Yellow are bracing themselves for a summer exit for the London-born winger with scouts from the likes of Chelsea and the Merseyside club keeping tabs on his progress.

Given his breathtaking rise this campaign, it is surely a matter of time before he is named in the senior England squad and makes a move back to his home country and the Reds should be at the front of the queue.

Liverpool should make their move for Gittens

The winger rose through the youth ranks at both Chelsea and Manchester City before his move to Germany and Arne Slot's side could steal a march on their rivals by bringing him back to England.

The England Under-21 international has scored nine goals and notched five assists in 23 matches for last season's Champions League finalists.

Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have been in sensational form so far this season but Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa have underwhelmed as Slot seeks a Premier League title in his maiden season in England.

One of the latter three could be solid in the summer if their struggles continue, with the Reds apparently ready to listen to offers for Nunez [Caught Offside].

Given his age, the English ace would future-proof Slot's attack and has the potential to become a homegrown superstar at Anfield.

His upward trajectory is highly encouraging and the Merseysiders should be knocking down Dortmund's door to secure his signature ahead of their rivals.
