Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai proved why he is a key asset in their title charge with an exceptional display against Tottenham.

The Reds extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points with a 6-3 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 22 December meaning that they will be top of the table on Christmas Day.

Szoboszlai has often left supporters wanting him to bring his international form back to Anfield but the 24-year-old shined on this occasion as he was involved in four of the Merseysiders' goals.

If the Hungarian can maintain this level, he will be one of the first names on Arne Slot's teamsheet in the second half of the campaign.

Szoboszlai's best game in a Liverpool shirt

Nobody can question the former RB Leipzig man's work-rate or talent but his decision-making has often frustrated since his £60 million move to the Reds.

However, on Sunday (22 December), his performance was complete with his relentless defensive effort and end product in the final third combining to put Ange Postecoglou's side to the sword.

He bagged a goal and an assist, had 13 touches in the opposition box, and created a combined expected goal and assist tally of 2.63 in the clash. [Fotmob]

Defensively, he was immense, he made five recoveries, one interception, and won the only tackle he attempted for a 100 success rate.

In terms of duels, he won all three of the aerial duels that he contested for a 100 per cent success rate and three of seven he attempted on the ground, for a 43 per cent success rate.

It was the Hungarian's best game in a Liverpool shirt to date and he may have just cemented his starting berth as the Reds chase domestic glory.
