View: 100% Liverpool star is now the most important player for Arne Slot

Ryan Gravenberch is turning world-class performances into a regular occurrence for Liverpool and is now one of the most important players under Arne Slot.

The 22-year-old was somewhat of a rotation option last term but has enjoyed an incredible resurgence at Anfield this year and continued his stellar performances in the 2-0 win against Aston Villa on Saturday [9 November].

Slot identified defensive midfield as the one glaring weakness to be addressed throughout the summer and will be thanking his lucky stars Martin Zubimendi turned down a move to the Reds in light of Gravenberch's form.

One of the main reasons for the Reds' phenomenal Champions League and Premier League form this year is the rise of Gravenberch.

Not one supporter could have predicted how the Dutchman would evolve under Slot, especially considering he was snubbed for most of last term for Wataru Endo.

However, he is now arguably the most important player in the squad and he showcased his talents once again at Anfield against Unai Emery's men.

Gravenberch won 66 per cent of his duels, and made four interceptions, two clearances and one tackle in a dominant defensive display [Sofascore], which has become the usual expectation from the midfielder this season

Furthermore, he completed 100 per cent of his dribbles, 100 per cent of his long balls and 88 per cent of his passes against Champions League opposition.

It is time that Gravenberch enters the conversation for the best midfielder in the Premier League and perhaps Europe. The numbers he is putting up weekly for Liverpool are not normal for a player who couldn't break into the side last term.

Slot should be commended for helping the midfielder realise his potential at Anfield, and Reds supporters should be thankful to Bayern Munich for letting him go - he is truly the cornerstone of the midfield and the future.
