View: Slot makes Tsimikas error – Liverpool confirmed XI v Crystal Palace

Arne Slot has named his Liverpool starting XI ahead of the clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday (5 October).

The Reds confirmed the starting lineup on X [5 October], with Kostas Tsimikas starting his first Premier League match this season at the expense of Andy Robertson and Cody Gakpo returning to the starting lineup over Luis Diaz.

Liverpool have enjoyed a fantastic start to life under Slot, winning five of their opening six Premier League matches, with the only loss coming in the 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Kostas Tsimikas could cost Liverpool v Crystal Palace

All three points will be required at Selhurst Park for Liverpool to ensure the side remains at the top of the Premier League table heading into the international break.

The Reds have won eight of their last nine visits to South London and will face a Palace side currently sat in the relegation zone after a 2-1 loss to Everton last time out.

Tsimikas has looked well below par for Liverpool when given the chance to start this season. He was nowhere to be seen as Christian Pulisic opened the scoring for AC Milan in the 3-1 win in the Champions League and, despite the 5-1 scoreline against West Ham United in the Carabao Cup, he looked far too error-prone at Anfield.

The Greek international has hardly set the world alight throughout his four-year stint at Anfield, He does show a glimmer of quality on occasion, but his inability to nail down a starting spot for Jurgen Klopp and now Slot is telling in how he is viewed at Liverpool.

Robertson returned to the side for the 2-0 win against Bologna in midweek after recovering from a minor injury issue and, while it may be wise to rest the full-back ahead of the two-week hiatus, the Reds must continue on the winning path to continue to challenge Manchester City and Arsenal.
