Finance expert: Liverpool in line for new ‘revenue uplift’ after recent New York announcement

Liverpool may be set for a “revenue uplift” after the announcement of ‘The LFC Experience’ in New York, according to football finance expert Dan Plumley.

The Reds have confirmed that Lucas Leiva and Martin Skrtel will be taking part in the visit at the end of September, which will also see Liverpool host a watch-along party for Arne Slot’s side’s clash with Wolves.

Although the visit is set to coincide with New York Climate Week, Plumley insists the experience will help the Reds harness their international fanbase to generate new commercial opportunities with their business partners.

“This is a prime example of tapping into your fanbase in other parts of the world you’ve not been able to harness yet,” Plumley exclusively told Liverpool News.

“If clubs can start to do that and monetise it, you can see where the commercial and general revenue uplift could be.

“Liverpool have stated themselves that they have 24million fans in the United States and if you start to think about how you can monetise those better, you’re into income generation and beyond.

“You can see what they’re looking to do. A lot of their partners are based in the States, they’ve got a watch-along party for this where there are going to be ex-players, partners and fans there all in one space to watch the game.

“It’s an absolute example of how you now look to kind of harness the international fanbase that can generate big commercial opportunities through your partners.

“But also increase fan engagement and how you can generate additional revenue from that in the future.”

Liverpool secure new revenue uplift after Anfield developments

Although the revenue generated by this New York experience alone is unlikely to be life-changing for Slot’s side, it will open more opportunities for the Reds to make use of their broad international fanbase.

With PSR concerns all around the Premier League, clubs cannot afford to turn down opportunities to bolster their income and while this may not be the most conventional method, it could be invaluable for the Reds in the long run.
