View: Liverpool predicted XI v Brentford – Arne Slot to axe Jarell Quansah

Arne Slot could make one change to his Liverpool side for the Premier League match against Brentford on Sunday [25 August].

The Dutchman will take charge of the Reds for his first competitive match at Anfield since he replaced Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.

Liverpool enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 win against Ipswich Town on the opening day of the 2024/25 campaign thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Mohammed Salah but Slot could fine tweak his side ahead of his second match in charge.

In defence, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are tipped to remain at full-back as they adapt to Slot’s narrow tactics, and club captain Virgil van Dijk should assume his regular duties alongside Ibrahima Konate.

Jarell Quansah was taken off at halftime against Ipswich with Slot not happy with the 21-year-old’s performance and will be expected to return to the bench for the Brentford match.

Ryan Gravenberch on the other hand, was sensational at the heart of the midfield for Liverpool and should return to anchor the midfield alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Mohammed Salah, who has entered the last year of his contract, looked back to his best against Ipswich assisting the first goal and scoring the second, he will be vital for the Reds this season and a shoo-in to start every match available.

There is presumably no place in the starting eleven for Darwin Nunez, as Diogo Jota rewarded Slot’s faith in him with a goal against Ipswich and will be expected to be the main man for the side until the goals dry up.

Luis Diaz played well enough against Ipswich to suggest he will start again but still lacks the clinical edge in front of goal, another match without a goal contribution could see Cody Gakpo return to the side against Manchester United on Sunday [1 September].

Only one change for Slot is expected as Liverpool fans await to see their new manager in action for the first time at Anfield in the Premier League.
