Arne Slot provides injury update on Liverpool ace Curtis Jones after friendly withdrawal
Arne Slot has provided an injury update on Liverpool ace Curtis Jones following his early withdrawal from a pre-season friendly.
Jones was forced off with a knock in the first half of Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Real Betis in Pittsburgh on Friday (July 26).
However, despite the early exit, Slot has reassured supporters that the injury is not serious.
The Reds boss explained that Jones was taken off as a precaution and expects him to be fine after further tests.
Speaking to reporters after the match, in quotes reported by the Liverpool Echo (27 July) he said: “We’re not expecting it to be worse but ideally he would have played on of course. I don’t think it’s a big problem but we have to wait and see when they test him tomorrow.”
Curtis Jones is loving life under new Liverpool boss Arne Slot
Curtis Jones is thrilled with the changes new Liverpool boss Arne Slot is bringing to the team and welcomed Slot’s emphasis on a patient, possession-based approach, with predecessor Jurgen Klopp known for his high-intensity gegenpress style.
Jones, who has often had to adapt his game to fit into Klopp’s system, is now finding a style that truly suits him.
Slot’s philosophy focuses on midfielders being more involved in keeping the ball, which is music to Jones’ ears.
“He’s amazing,” Jones said about Slot [Sky Sports, July 26], highlighting the clear and detailed coaching he’s receiving.

For Jones, this means more opportunities to play to his strengths, getting on the ball, and dictating the tempo of the game.
The young midfielder is particularly excited about the more relaxed and thoughtful build-up play, rather than the previous approach of quickly regaining and losing possession.
This new style promises not only to enhance individual performances but also to bring out the best in the team.
With Slot at the helm, Jones feels more at home on the pitch, ready to help Liverpool dominate possession and control games.
In other Liverpool news, the Reds are reportedly in the final stages of a deal for Takefusa Kubo.
