Dominik Szoboszlai to be major beneficiary as Arne Slot to make big Liverpool change

Liverpool boss Arne Slot could deploy his preferred system this coming season in order to get the best out of midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.

Szoboszlai endured a hit and miss debut season at Anfield last term after arriving from RB Leipzig in a deal rising to £60million [Sky Sports].

The Hungarian started like a house on fire but returned from injury a shadow of his former self in February.

He, like many of the Reds players around him, looked lost for ideas and ran out of steam during the business end of the season.

Now under new management with Slot, the Dutchman may be ready for a change that could see Szoboszlai reach new heights in a Liverpool shirt.

Arne Slot to deploy 4-2-3-1 system at Liverpool

Liverpool fans have become accustomed to the 4-3-3 system under Jurgen Klopp that brought so much success in recent years.

But with Slot, change is on the horizon as he could set up the side in his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.

That change could unlock the potential of Szoboszlai, who would thrive in the number 10 role.

The 23-year-old has played all across the front three and midfield throughout his career.

During his first season at RB Leipzig, he played as an attacking midfielder in 23 matches, recording five goals and three assists [Transfermarkt].

He has played in that position for 39 matches with 10 goals and six assists at club level.

It was at international level that Szoboszlai found the role and he has played there throughout his tenure with the national team.

As per Sofascore, he averaged a 7.27 match rating at Euro 2024 despite Hungary’s elimination from the competition.

During the Euro qualifying campaign, he averaged an 8.18 match rating. That included a perfect 10/10 performance in the 3-1 win against Montenegro.

Szoboszlai scored a brace out of his three shots on target, which averaged to a 67 per cent shot conversion rate.

He scored four goals and notched three assists in eight starts to help Hungary qualify for Euro 2024. Last season, he showed the work-horse mentality that Liverpool fans love before his injury.

Now is the time for Szoboszlai to show just how dangerous he can be in Slot’s preferred system.
