Liverpool gem Bobby Clark should bide time on loan decision

Liverpool youth prospect Bobby Clark should hold off on making a decision on his future and focus on impressing Arne Slot in pre-season.

The 19-year-old was promoted to the first-team last season during Liverpool’s midfield injury crisis.

Clark, son of former Newcastle player Lee Clark, recorded one goal and two assists in 14 appearances.

Reports have emerged that Norwich, RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg are targeting a loan move for the midfielder [Dave ockop, June 25].

While there is much interest in the youngster, Clark might be better served just holding fire for now as there will be plenty of opportunity to catch new manager Slot’s eye in pre-season.

Bobby Clark can become a first-team regular at Liverpool

One of Clark’s 14 appearances came as a cameo in Liverpool’s League Cup final win over Chelsea in February.

His first goal for the club was against Sparta Prague at Anfield in the Europa League round of 16.

Due to injuries to Liverpool’s senior midfielders, Clark gained experience in every competition for the Reds last season.

He averaged a 7.2 match rating for games started as per WhoScored, proving he is more than capable to make an impact for Slot’s side.

But Clark may never find himself in a better position to force himself into Slot’s plans for the upcoming season.

Wataru Endo could miss the majority of pre-season to feature in Japan’s 2024 Olympics squad.

With Thiago leaving the club, Liverpool need a player of Clark’s quality in the first-team.

As Liverpool face their most packed season to date with the change to the Champions League format.

Liverpool fans won’t want a repeat of last season when injuries left them short in midfield.

Slot needs a well-stocked squad to challenge on all fronts next season and Clark should be involved.
