Jurgen Klopp leads Arne Slot chant as footage emerges after Liverpool vs Wolves
Jurgen Klopp gave Arne Slot a quite literal ringing endorsement after Liverpool defeated Wolves 2-0 in his farewell game.
The popular German signed off as Reds boss with three points at Anfield in an emotional afternoon for fans and players alike.
Following the game, Klopp was on the microphone during a presentation on the pitch and led a chant of “Arne Slot, la la la la la” to the tune of ‘Live is Life’ by Opus, in footage shared by Sky Sports Premier League (19 May).
He added to the crowd: “You welcome the new manager like you welcomed me. You go all-in from the first day. And you keep believing and you push the team. Change is good.”
Fantastic gesture by departing Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp
Slot told the media on Friday that he will replace Klopp, though no official announcement has been made by either Liverpool or Feyenoord, with ESPN reporting it could happen as soon as next week.
Klopp will go down in Anfield folklore as one of the most beloved managers Liverpool have ever had after a hugely successful nine years in the dugout, which included winning the Premier League and Champions League with the Reds.
While there will be inevitable sadness that Klopp is leaving the Red half of Merseyside, his gesture of chanting Slot’s name was a fantastic one.
Changing managers after such a successful period is obviously going to lead to fears of upheaval, but giving that sort of support to Slot and getting the crowd to join in singing his name is bound to help.
For now, there is a chance to reflect. But there is no reason to fear change and that is exactly the message Klopp wanted to get across.
