Jarell Quansah set to win new and improved Liverpool contract

Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah is expected to be offered an improved contract at Anfield, according to the Sunday Mirror.

On page 67 of this Sunday’s edition [5 May], it is reported that Quansah – who has made 30 first-team appearances in red this year – will be rewarded for his breakthrough season in which he was part of a youthful Liverpool side to lift the Carabao Cup.

Amid an extensive injury list which has eventually seen Liverpool run out of steam in both the Premier League title race and the UEFA Europa League, Jurgen Klopp has placed his trust in the fresh crop of talent at Anfield such as Quansah.

Liverpool will inevitably strengthen their defensive options over the summer as Arne Slot looks to be passed the baton from Klopp. Eintracht Frankfurt could demand upwards of £50million on centre-back Willian Pacho, who has attracted interest from the Premier League’s elite including the Reds.

The club will be anticipated to have funds at their disposal – particularly with the resurfacing rumours of Mohamed Salah heading to Saudi Arabia, and the club’s open discussion on Luis Diaz’s future.

How important are youngsters like Quansah to Liverpool?

By faith or by force majeure, Klopp’s twilight season at Anfield has seen him field several of his young charges during the bulk of a Premier League title race and a European campaign from which disappointment was levelled at the team after elimination by Atalanta.

Credit must be delivered to Liverpool for how long they were able to continue to chase the top two, all whilst a team of inexperienced academy boys overcame Chelsea to win Wembley silverware in February.

Jarell Quansah will sign a new Liverpool contract

Quansah has relished the opportunities opened up to him by injuries to Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate, and has become a valued player from the Kop this year.

The 21-year-old, alongside Conor Bradley and Harvey Elliott of similar ages – though the latter has already played over 100 times for Liverpool – have gained the right footballing education as professionals. The trio have all gained vital pedigree on loan at EFL clubs, hardening their shells for what has come their way at Anfield this term. A further 17 have been away on loan deals this season, too.

This will not only benefit the Warrington-born lad and his teammates, but the club itself heading into a new dawn under Slot. With experienced incomings expected, it’s thought the next on the production line – such as James McConnell, Jayden Danns and Bobby Clark – will be nurtured with similar routines.
