Liverpool have enjoyed a transfer window for the ages, and it's not over yet.

The Reds have splashed over £250million on Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong. Meanwhile, they remain firmly in the race to sign Alexander Isak.

It might be thought that spending spree would come as bad news to any Liverpool academy stars with dreams of breaking into the first team.

However, one emerging young talent has signed a new contract before being sent out on loan.

Owen Beck signs new contract and agrees loan move to Derby County

Owen Beck had been regarded by some fans as the long-term replacement for Andy Robertson at left-back.

The Welsh defender has impressed on loan at Blackburn Rovers and may have harboured desires to break into the Liverpool side this season.

Those would have been hampered by Kerkez arriving from Bournemouth for £40m.

Still, Liverpool have shown their faith in Beck by offering him a new long-term contract.

The 22-year-old won't be breaking into the Liverpool team this year though, as he agreed to sign for Derby County on a season-long loan.

The news was confirmed by Liverpool on their official website (25 July).

He'll link up with John Eustace at Derby, who was his manager at Blackburn throughout the majority of his loan spell last year.

Although some Liverpool fans questioned this move, most were quick to congratulate Beck on his new deal.

Liverpool fans await news on Isak signing

Paul Joyce, a journalist who covers Liverpool and Everton for The Times, was one of the first to reveal the Beck news on social media platform X.

Many Liverpool fans reacted positively to the news, but there was also an unignorable number of supporters asking for updates on Alexander Isak.

Liverpool have spent incredible amounts of money on improving their first-team squad, but Isak would be the jewel in the crown.

The Swede has developed a reputation as one of Europe's most lethal young strikers. If Liverpool could persuade him to sign, they would arguably boast the strongest attack in world football.

Newcastle are holding firm. It could likely cost around £120m to sign him, but Liverpool aren't backing away. A mammoth bid from the Reds is expected to be announced soon.

That's why fans are so keen to hear updates.
