Liverpool fans look away now as key criteria to replace Darwin Nunez now revealed
Darwin Nunez looks set to complete his move away from Liverpool.
Nunez is completing the final details of his transfer to Al-Hilal in a deal worth £46million plus add-ons.
It's hoped that the deal will help Liverpool submit an improved bid to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle.
The Reds will certainly be looking to replace Nunez with someone, especially given that they've also sold Luis Diaz in August.
However, Liverpool fans won't be thrilled by the reported criteria required for a striker to replace the Uruguayan.
James Pearce reveals criteria for striker to replace Nunez at Liverpool
Nunez arrived at Anfield from Benfica with a ton of expectation on his shoulders, but it hasn't really worked out for him at Liverpool.
Most fans will be happy to see him go, especially if it aids the club's pursuit of Isak.
However, James Pearce, Liverpool reporter at The Athletic, might have dampened these hopes by revealing the club's criteria for a striker to replace Nunez.
He says the striker must be:
- of sufficient quality to start
- represent fair market value
- realistically attainable
These last two criteria suggest that Liverpool might have been put off by Newcastle's extortionate valuation of Isak and are now seeking alternative targets.

Liverpool's pursuit of Isak has been the transfer saga of the summer, and that's not because of the huge fee that the Reds are willing to pay for the Swedish striker.
There's so much interest in this deal because it would arguably give Liverpool the strongest attack in Europe.
Arne Slot already has Mo Salah, Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo and more at his disposal, but adding Isak would take Liverpool's strikeforce to a whole new level.
With that said, they already have enough firepower to retain the Premier League title.

- Rio Ngumoha
So, they're hardly short of talented forwards in reserve.
Slot will probably dip into the transfer market to buy another attacker, but if it's not Isak, it won't be the end of the world for Liverpool.
