Liverpool made hard work of a crucial 3-1 win against Sheffield United in the Premier League at Anfield on Thursday 4 April.

After Darwin Nunez took advantage of an early error, it looked like it was going to be a long night for the visitors before they equalised through a Conor Bradley own goal.

Thankfully, Alexis Mac Allister stepped up with a rocket of a strike to hand the Reds the lead before Cody Gakpo made sure of the three points at the very death.

After both Arsenal and Manchester City picked up three points on April 3, it was critical that the Reds responded at Anfield.

The truth is they struggled against a team destined for the Championship, with Mohamed Salah even dragged off early by Jurgen Klopp.

Mac Allister was the one to grab the bull by the horns though, and he was everywhere.

Not only was his goal special from distance, but he was at the heart of everything, having 103 touches of the ball and completing 89% of his passes [SofaScore].

The midfield maestro also completed two key passes and was accurate with 100% of his long balls, which were crucial to unlocking a stubborn defence.

The World Cup winner was dogged in defence too, leading from all angles with four tackles, two interceptions and a last-man challenge.

Mac Allister has been rated an eight or higher by Sofa Score in five of his last eight outings for the Reds, proving he may well be their most important player right now.

If it wasn't for the crossbar too, the midfielder would have scored again with an outrageous free-kick which left Ivo Grbic clutching at air towards the end.

Klopp may be leaving in the summer, but his legacy will remain with Mac Allister being one of his last, and best signings at Anfield right now.
