Harvey Elliott has established himself as one of Liverpool’s best upcoming players in recent years, and is now also catching the eye on the international stage.

Since joining the Merseyside club from Fulham, the midfielder has developed into a solid player at Anfield

The 22-year-old made 18 Premier League appearances this past season in the title-winning campaign.

Now, Elliott has been rewarded for his displays with a call-up to the England Under-21s squad.

Elliott praised for goal in England Under 21s opener

Liverpool have multiple players at the Under 21s European Championship this summer.

With the tournament taking place in Slovakia, England are aiming to hold onto their crown.

Three Liverpool players have joined Lee Carsley’s squad, with Jarell Quansah and Tyler Morton joining Elliott.

England played their first match on Thursday (12 June), and the young Three Lions saw out a 3-1 victory over Czechia.

Elliott was on the scoreboard as he netted the opening goal of the game with a low effort.

When analysing the how the players performed, GOAL (12 June) credited Elliott’s performance, claiming his finish was “strong” to open the scoring before rewarding him a 7/10.

Journalist Tom Maston wrote: “Had some nice moments drifting inside from the right to combine with McAtee, though couldn't quite unpick the lock with his passing. Strong finish to open the scoring.”

Liverpool need to ensure they keep Elliott this summer

It has been clear for some time now that Elliott has massive potential and could go on to be a star at Anfield.

At just 22 years old, he has played a part in multiple of Liverpool’s trophy victories and is clearly the future of their midfield.

Elliott has had a fantastic start to his career

Therefore, with Elliott being linked away to Wolves, Arne Slot has to block the transfer.

The England Under 21s international is getting better with every game, and it would be a massive waste if they were to lose a player of such talent early in his career.

Hopefully, Slot will keep an eye on the Euros and be convinced that Elliott should stay at the Reds.
