Liverpool have been named as a potential destination for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, by his agent Jorge Chijane.

As shared by Sky Sports News, Chijane admitted that the Reds are not the only club interested in a move for the Uruguayan international this summer.

He said: "Liverpool? There is a lot of talk but it is not the only club, there are others. There are many possibilities on the table.

"It's almost certain that he won't stay [at PSG], it's sure he'll leave. I believe the situation will be resolved."

Manuel Ugarte set for Liverpool transfer?

Ugarte was regarded as one of the hottest midfield prospects when he completed a £51m from Sporting CP last summer.

Liverpool were strongly linked [Daily Mail, 11 May 2023] with the midfielder during last summer's rebuild.

The 23-year-old was also touted as a target for Chelsea before deciding to make the switch to Paris.

A year later, he finds himself transfer listed at PSG [L'Equipe, 11 May] despite featuring 36 times in all competitions for the French champions.

Liverpool Anfield

The situation has remained the same at Anfield since they were last linked with a move for Ugarte.

Despite the acquisition of Wataru Endo, the Reds are still in need of another defensive midfielder.

Endo admitted himself that the club needed to bring in midfield reinforcements [This is Anfield, 24 June].

The Uruguayan is arguably the best player available in the market in his position.

Endo produced incredible performances throughout his debut season at Anfield, but Liverpool would be foolish not to make a move for a player that would be a significant upgrade on the Japan captain.
