Liverpool are actively pursuing a deal to sign Lille centre-back Leny Yoro during the summer transfer window, according to David Ornstein.

The Athletic journalist reported on Thursday (13 June) that Arne Slot's side and Premier League rivals Manchester United are pursuing a deal for the teenager who has become one of Europe's most coveted players.

French champions PSG are also interested in securing the 18-year-old's signature, but there is an acceptance around all three clubs that Los Blancos may have already won the race to bring him to Spain.

The Reds have made a concrete push to try and sign Yoro this summer and are ready to offer terms that are competitive with the Spanish giants, but Carlo Ancelotti's side are still expected to secure his services.

Will Liverpool beat Manchester United and Real Madrid in transfer race for Leny Yoro?

Liverpool need new centre-backs this summer and it seems as though Slot and his recruitment team are doing all that they can to not only sign new players but compete for some of the best young talents in Europe.

Yoro is an exceptional player and at only 18, there is still plenty of room for him to improve in the future. If the Reds can somehow get this deal over the line, they may have finally discovered a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk.

However, when Real Madrid come knocking, it is always hard to beat them in a transfer race. Even if the Reds do offer favourable terms compared to United and Madrid, there is a genuine chance the teenager will still pick a move to Spain.

Hopefully, somehow Slot's side will come out on top in this battle early in the transfer window. It won't be easy for anyone at Anfield, but this is far too good a player to let slip through your fingers without a fight.
