Liverpool are set to demand more than £20m for Caoimhin Kelleher in the summer transfer window, according to David Lynch.

The This Is Anfield journalist details that there will likely be plenty of interest in the 25-year-old this summer after having his best season to date.

Although he will still be second choice with the Reds, the Anfield club are only likely to let the Ireland international go if a hefty fee is received.

Especially since the transfer of James Trafford to Burnley this season set Vincent Kompany's team back by around £19m.

Why Liverpool won't let Caoimhin Kelleher leave for a nominal fee

The 2023/24 season showcased why teams need to have two equally strong goalkeepers within their ranks.

Although Alisson is evidently Liverpool's number one, due to the Brazil international missing a total of 17 games through injury, Kelleher had to step up and take over.

In fact, throughout the 2023/24 season, the 25-year-old only played six games less than his Brazilian counterpart.

As per Sofascore, despite conceding just 1.1 goals per game and saving 72% of shots he faced in the Premier League, Kelleher won't be able to make it into the squad over Alisson.

These statistics alone outline not only why Liverpool won't allow him to go for less than £20m but why a plethora of clubs are rooting for his transfer.

Alongside Celtic, Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with a move for Kelleher due to Jose Sa being "ready to quit" the club this summer.

If he does choose to depart from Merseyside, Arne Slot will have a mammoth task on his hands to replace the talented shot-stopper.
