Liverpool are interested in a summer transfer for Wolves left-back Rayan Ait Nouri, according to journalist David Lynch.

Lynch revealed the Reds' interest on The Anfield Index podcast and the 23-year-old would add competition for Andy Robertson, while Kostas Tsimikas is also on the books.

Lynch said: "Yeah I think there's definitely legs in this one, I think because he's been linked so frequently recently and Liverpool have a great relationship with his agency.

"So I think there's definitely something in that."

Liverpool must decide on Kostas Tsimikas future before Rayan Ait Nouri move

While Lynch spoke the interest of Liverpool in Ait Nouri he affirmed that the club are well-stocked at left-back.

Both Robertson and Tsimikas play left-back and one must move on to make room for Ait Nouri.

Robertson's position at Anfield will be safe.

The Scotland captain holds the record for the most assists by a full-back in Premier League history.

He still has plenty of Premier League football yet to play at 30-years-old.

But Liverpool should make a move for Ait Nouri has a long-term replacement for Robertson.

The Tsimikas experiment hasn't worked out at Anfield.

Four years on from his move from Olympiacos, he hasn't been able to nail down a spot in the first-team.

At 28-years-old it's hard to make a case for the Greece international to remain at the club.

Ait Nouri would represent a significant improvement on Tsimikas and would be a more quality squad depth option.

The Algerian joined Wolves in the same year that Tsimikas joined the Reds.

With four years of Premier League experience and 23-years-old, Ait Nouri could be the perfect Robertson understudy.

Liverpool currently lead Chelsea and Manchester City in the race for the defender [Liverpool ECHO, 28 June].

Wolves reportedly value the defender at £34million.

The Reds will need to act fast and make a decision on Tsimikas if they want to land their target.
