Alexander Isak continues to push for a move away from Newcastle as Liverpool circle.

The Swede has been linked with the Reds heavily throughout the transfer window, as Arne Slot looks to reinforce his attack.

Liverpool did see a bid for Isak rebuffed early in the summer, and since then, the relationship between Newcastle and the striker has soured.

Now, the Swede has spoken out about the situation as he failed to attend the PFA awards ceremony.

Alexander Isak: Relationship cannot continue with Newcastle

The striker was not in the squad for their 0-0 draw against Aston Villa as he looks to end his stay at St. James’ Park.

While people such as Alan Shearer have criticised Isak’s lack of professionalism, the Swede has continued to strike.

Now, after weeks of speculation, the striker has finally spoke out about the ongoing situation.

  • Liverpool have been chasing Isak throughout the summer
  • The Swede netted 23 Premier League goals last season
  • Isak helped Newcastle win the Carabao Cup in March

On Instagram on 19 August, Isak put out a massive message on his story regarding his absence from the PFA awards ceremony, saying his thanks for being in the PFA Team of the Season for the prior campaign.

Regarding his future at Newcastle, he then went on to say: “The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time.

“To now act as if these issues are only just emerging is misleading.

“When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue.

“That’s where things are right now for me – any why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself.”

Liverpool cannot sign Alexander Isak if they want a successful season

Liverpool proved against the Cherries that their attack is fantastic.

New signing Hugo Ekitike dominated Bournemouth, who are no pushovers in the Premier League.

If Slot goes through with the signing of Isak, he risks upsetting this balance, with the Swede proving that he could also potentially be a bad apple.

Given this, the Reds’ best chance of finding success this season is moving on from Isak and targeting other positions, as their defence is in far greater need of additions rather than their frontline.
