Al Hilal will attempt to sign Liverpool star Mohamed Salah at the end of the season Jorge Jesus has said, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist reported on Friday (17 January) via X, relaying comments made by Al Hilal boss Jesus on a potential move for the Egyptian.

Richard Hughes, of course, has been conducting his due diligence in the event Salah leaves Anfield at the end of the season, but Liverpool remain optimistic about securing a contract extension before July despite the murmurs emerging from Saudi Arabia.

However, in bombshell comments Jesus hinted that a move will happen later in 2025, saying: "Salah or other big names won't come [to Al Hilal] this winter… but maybe this summer.”

Liverpool must tie down Mohamed Salah now

This saga has dragged on for far too long.

Yes, Liverpool went through a complete structural revamp during the past year, with Michael Edwards returning as CEO of football and Arne Slot succeeding Jurgen Klopp.

However, allowing Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold to enter the final six months of their contracts is negligence to the highest degree and someone must be held accountable.

While the Real Madrid PR swing is in full effect, the longer there is radio silence from Anfield, the more likely Alexander-Arnold will leave his boyhood club to become the next Galactico.

Nevertheless, the Reds are powerless should any and/or all the players decide to leave in the summer—it is time for Fenway Sports Group to dig deep into their pockets and offer lucrative contracts.

Salah has not hidden the fact he wants to remain with Liverpool, his ambition outweighs the riches on offer in Saudi Arabia.

He only wishes to receive an offer worthy of his ability and considering at 32, he leads the Premier League in goals and assists this year, how hard can it be to make one of the best players in Liverpool history feel valued?
