Liverpool did something they haven’t done in over two years against Chelsea

Liverpool’s luck from the start of the season has officially run out.

Liverpool fell to a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with Estevao stealing in at the back-post to win the game in the 96th minute.

It is the second time in a week that Liverpool have lost a Premier League game in injury time, with Eddie Nketiah scoring in the 97th minute in a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

The Reds are in a rut at the moment after making it seven wins from seven against Southampton, and have done something they haven’t done under Arne Slot before with the defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool lose their third game in a row

The Reds’ losing streak has extended to three games following their late defeat to Chelsea, which has seen Arsenal overtake them in the Premier League table to take top spot.

Liverpool have not lost three games in a row since Slot’s appointment, with the last time that the Reds achieved such a feat coming in April 2023 under Jurgen Klopp.

In what was a rotten season for the Anfield outfit, Liverpool were beaten 1-0 by both Bournemouth and Real Madrid in the space of four days.

They then travelled to the Etihad to face Manchester City, and were demolished 4-1 by the eventual Champions after Mohamed Salah gave them an early lead.

Liverpool did, however, recover from that run to end the season with an 11-game unbeaten streak to finish 5th, before extending that run to 19 games the next season.

Liverpool will be thankful they’re back at Anfield after the international break

The Reds have put in some mileage over the past week, with two trips to London sandwiching a long-haul trip to Turkey for a 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray.

Liverpool are missing the comforts of Anfield, where they have only lost twice under Slot and haven’t lost there since March.

To give some leeway to the Champions, they are in the middle of a ridiculous run of five away games in six, and their away troubles are really starting to show.

The Reds will return to Premier League action against the old enemy in Manchester United at Anfield, a fixture in which they have a brilliant recent record in.

Slot is beginning to feel the pressure after a ridiculous summer of spending, and needs to solve these poor performances quickly before the losing spell snowballs into a full-on crisis.
