Liverpool get double injury boost as Alisson timeframe emerges
Liverpool had several injury concerns ahead of their clash with Chelsea on Saturday.
Alisson was forced off in Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Galatasaray, forcing Giorgi Mamardashvili into his Champions League debut.
Arne Slot has several decisions to make for Liverpool’s trip to face Enzo Maresca’s side, but his plans are now clearer.
The Reds have received positive news on the injury front ahead of the Stamford Bridge clash on 4 October.

Alisson timeframe revealed as two passed fit for Chelsea vs Liverpool
Hugo Ekitike was another injury doubt for Liverpool, but it seems that he will be fit for the clash with the Blues.
Federico Chiesa missed the Galatasaray clash with a small problem, but he should also be in the squad for the weekend.
Arne Slot shared an update on the duo, as well as providing a timeframe for Alisson‘s return, in his pre-match press conference on 3 October.
He said: “Alisson is not part of the squad tomorrow. Hugo will train again today, and the same for Federico. We will see then.”
“Depends on how fast recovery goes [for Alisson’s return]. I’d be surprised if he’s ready for the first game after the international break.”
Liverpool need to get back to winning ways against Chelsea
The Reds need to beat the Club World Cup champions when the sides meet, to get momentum back, after two consecutive losses.
It feels as though Arsenal are now the favourites to win the title, after the huge shift in fortunes last weekend, and the L4 outfit need to turn things around quickly.
- Liverpool lost 2-1 at Crystal Palace, in a result that many felt was overdue after several poor performances
- Arsenal beat Newcastle 2-1, coming back to win after going behind, in a result that many feel will be significant
- The Reds need to put the pressure on Mikel Arteta’s side, despite still sitting at the top of the league
If Ekitike and Chiesa are back, that would be a huge boost, although the Brazil star’s absence will be a huge miss, as he is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world.
Mamardashvili is highly rated, but he has only featured twice for Slot’s side, since linking up with them in the summer, so he is not guaranteed to be a success between the sticks.
The Reds need him to step up, as they cannot afford to lose ground on the Gunners, if they are to reclaim their crown.
