Giorgi Mamardashvili can steal Liverpool number one spot as Alisson update emerges
Alisson may have played his last game as Liverpool’s number one goalkeeper.
Liverpool stopper Alisson is widely regarded as the best in the world in the position, but he consistently picks up injuries season after season.
Giorgi Mamardashvili is set for his Premier League debut for Liverpool, after only making two appearances so far this season.
The Georgian might take the Brazil star’s spot, as a new update was shared on the extent of his latest issue.

Arne Slot shares Alisson update at Liverpool
Slot has given a timescale for Alisson’s injury, and it does not look good, as he is set to be out until at least after the international break.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Chelsea, the Dutchman said:
“Alisson is not part of the squad tomorrow. Depends on how fast recovery goes [for Alisson’s return]. I’d be surprised if he’s ready for the first game after the international break.”

That means that Mamardashvili has a chance to impress, and that could ultimately lead to the beginning of the end for Alisson, if he can follow up his impressive campaign last season, highlighted by the Sofascore graphic.
Giorgi Mamardashvili is the succession plan for Liverpool
Mamardashvili is the Reds’ successor for the Brazilian, that was made clear when they allowed Caoimhin Kelleher to depart in the summer.
He has a chance to make the number one spot his own, for good, which would spell the end for Alisson’s time between the sticks.
- Alisson signed for Liverpool in 2018 for a fee of £65m, a then record fee for a goalkeeper
- He has made 307 appearances for the Reds, keeping 129 clean sheets in that time
- He has won two Premier League titles, a Champions League and various other trophies
If the former Roma star is out beyond the international break, that could give the ex-Valencia man a chance to assert himself as the undisputed number one, especially given the defensive problems that they have faced.

Slot’s side have conceded 13 goals from their opening 10 matches, allowing a total of 10.5 shots and 2.50 big chances per game, per Sofascore.
Mamardashvili could be the solution, if the L4 outfit are more solid while he is in the team, it may be time to put faith in him, and not just in the long term.
