Arne Slot defended after what he said about Liverpool star, could have caused an ‘issue’

Arne Slot’s frustrations have came to the fore at Liverpool recently.

Liverpool have lost their last two matches, and they have significant defensive issues that threaten to hamper their season, as the Sofascore graphic below highlights.

The likes of Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong have upset Liverpool’s balance as a unit, and there are question marks over whether Slot can find it before it is too late.

Liverpool are trying to defend their Premier League title, and go far in the Champions League, but they have to sort their problems to do that.

Arne Slot defended after he called out Liverpool player

Slot was furious after Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, speaking out about one of his players in his post-match interview.

The Dutchman said: “One of our players decided to run out because he wanted to play a counter attack, which was of no use because time was up!”

Iconic football commentator Ian Darke does think Slot’s comments are much of an issue, speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, he said: “All I would say about Arne Slot is, he has not really put a foot wrong when in charge of Liverpool

“It would have been more of an issue if he had actually named the player and thrown him under the bus in public.

“As it is, I think it is a shot across the bows, and he is basically telling the players, I am not going to completely cover for you, if you come up short on the day.

“Who knows, but, whoever it is, they are not being nailed to the church door, for people to have a go at, he is entitled to have a go at whoever he wants.”

Slot made his frustrations clear, but as Darke states, he did not name the player, so all is well and good.

Liverpool need Slot to keep his cool

In his first season in charge, Slot did not face many problems, as the Reds strolled to the league title at a canter.

He came across as a level-headed man as a result, but the perception is starting to shift as the pressure piles on.

The former Feyenoord man needs to regain his composure, and figure out a way to stop the Reds being so vulnerable at the back, before it is too late.
