Alexander Isak could achieve something not seen in 30 years in Chelsea vs Liverpool
Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has developed an unusual relationship with Stamford Bridge.
The £130million striker struggled last time out in the Premier League as Liverpool lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace, ending their unbeaten run.
Isak is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League for Liverpool and will be desperate to get on the scoresheet at the Bridge, something he has not struggled with before.
Last time the two faced off at Stamford Bridge, Arne Slot’s men fell to a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea.

Alexander Isak’s Stamford Bridge record
Isak could recreate history from 30 years ago as Liverpool take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Swedish forward has found the net in each of his last two Premier League visits to Chelsea’s ground, both while playing for Newcastle United in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 campaigns.
According to Opta, if Isak scores on Saturday at the Bridge, he will become the second player in Premier League history to score in three consecutive away games against the same club and end up on the losing side each time.
Rod Wallace, the only player in history to have done this, scored away at Norwich City between 1992-93 and 1994-95 for Leeds.
Season | Goals | Assists |
24-25 | 27 | 6 |
23-24 | 25 | 2 |
Isak’s goals at Stamford Bridge highlight his knack for stepping up in difficult fixtures and his ability to score in difficult games.
In 2023-24, he gave Newcastle hope with a composed finish against Chelsea, only for Mauricio Pochettino’s side to edge a 3-2 win.

A year later, in the 2024-25 campaign, he struck again in London, yet Newcastle once more left on the wrong side of a defeat.
Arne Slot faces tough selection decision vs Chelsea
Liverpool spent big this summer, signing the likes of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.
However, it’s Liverpool forwards that bring Slot a problem, with Hugo Ekitike and Isak both arriving at the club, looking to be Liverpool’s leading man.
Ekitike has started the season strongly with three goals in five Premier League games. However, a red card in the Carabao cup left Slot shocked with Ekitike’s lack of care.
After Ekitike served his ban against Crystal Palace, he struggled to impress in Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Galatasaray and hobbled off in the second half, leaving Isak with a hope of starting this weekend.
