Where Liverpool rank among best teams in world after slipping behind Arsenal
Liverpool’s standing in the football world has taken a hit after their poor results recently.
Liverpool have hit a poor run of form, losing their last two matches after a perfect start to the campaign, in which they had won every game.
Arne Slot has to turn things around soon, otherwise, Liverpool’s chances of retaining the Premier League could be slim, if they keep dropping points.
Arsenal are in brilliant form, having lost just once this season, as the Sofascore graphic below shows, and that has been reflected in a new set of rankings.
Liverpool no longer ranked as the best club in the world
Liverpool have been regarded as the best, but now their ranking has taken a hit after those poor results against Crystal Palace and Galatasaray.
The Reds have fallen behind Arsenal in Opta‘s power rankings, a tool which ranks the best clubs in world football.
Slot’s side now sit in second place with a rating of 99.6, with the Gunners ranked as the best at 100.
They need to retake their top spot soon.
Arne Slot needs to turn things around at Liverpool
Right now, it seems as though Mikel Arteta’s side have the momentum in the title race, with the Reds faltering already, despite sitting at the top of the table.
Slot needs to turn things around, and get the likes of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak up to form quickly, if they are to beat the Gunners to retain their crown.
- Wirtz has one assists in eight matches for the Reds, with no goals in those appearances
- Isak has notched one goal in his first five matches since joining from Newcastle
The Reds may well turn it on as the season progresses, but that could be too late, if the North Londoners build up a sizeable gap at the top of the table.
The Merseysiders could still ensure success in the Champions League of course, but winning the domestic title would truly cement Slot and the squad’s status.
They will be aiming to do both, but if they are to do that, they need to improve quickly, and take that number one ranking from the Emirates Stadium outfit.
