Chelsea could yet be without a manager vs Liverpool amid dramatic full-time scenes at Stamford Bridge
Liverpool’s perfect start to the Premier League campaign came to an end on Saturday afternoon via a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace.
Palace cancelled out Liverpool’s late equaliser courtesy of a 97-minute goal from Eddie Nketiah.
The result could’ve been a lot worse if it weren’t for Alisson making multiple big saves for Liverpool, in what was a poor showing from the Reds.
Arne Slot’s side have suffered a few injuries lately, and an assist from Marc Guehi today will have Liverpool fans clamouring for the club to go back in for the centre-back in the January transfer window.
Despite a disappointing result today, news coming from Stamford Bridge will give Liverpool fans mixed emotions ahead of their clash with Chelsea next Saturday.

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea future in doubt ahead of Liverpool clash
Chelsea lost 2-1 to Brighton on Saturday as the 10-man Blues slipped from a winning position.
Telegraph journalist Matt Law reported via X from Stamford Bridge that the Chelsea hierarchy were seen storming towards the home side’s dressing room on the full-time whistle against Brighton.
- Liverpool have beat Chelsea in three domestic cup finals: 2006 FA Cup, 2022 & 2024 EFL Cups
- The Reds went 10 games unbeaten against Chelsea between 2019–2022
- Mo Salah has scored seven goals against Chelsea
“Chelsea co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali and sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, plus Joe Shields and Sam Jewell all marched straight to the dressing room area at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea’s defeat to Brighton,” Law tweeted.
“Brighton players were still on the pitch celebrating.”
This update implies that Maresca‘s Chelsea future could be in major doubt ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Anfield.
What are Liverpool’s chances for victory vs Chelsea?
There’s been no shortage of drama for Slot‘s men either, as Liverpool has released a statement from their game against Palace after VAR controversy.
Liverpool will travel to Turkey to face Galatasaray in Tuesday’s Champions League clash before they meet with Chelsea.
Confidence is low in Maresca’s team – a team that has only won once in their last five games.
It’s yet to be seen whether Maresca will keep his job at least for the game against Liverpool, as the game now has an added element of uncertainty for both teams.
