My Chemical Romance star is huge Liverpool fan, he took swipe at Man United this year

Liverpool fans will be happy to hear that one member of US rock band My Chemical Romance is a massive fan of the Reds.

It was announced on Monday that My Chemical Romance will headline Anfield in June 2026, as part of their ‘The Black Parade’ tour.

The show is expected to see the first of several musical acts take to the stage at the home of Liverpool, with the club hoping to make the stadium among the most popular music venues in the country.

Dua Lipa played two shows at Anfield in June, in what was a summer that saw plenty of memorable nights held at the iconic football venue.

Lana Del Rey also played at Anfield, with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band completing a star-studded list of musical acts to have played in the summer.

Frank Iero reveals Liverpool support

My Chemical Romance are best known for hits such as ‘Welcome to The Black Parade’, and ‘Teenagers’.

Formed in 2001, the band are thought to be among the most influential of the 2000s, having sold 8.7 million album-equivalent units in the United States alone as of December 2021.

Vocalist Gerard Way, lead guitarist Ray Toro, bassist Mikey Way and rhythm guitarist Frank Iero comprise the band, with the latter revealing that he is a fan of Liverpool.

On Friday, Iero took to social media to post a picture of him wearing a Liverpool shirt and hat, accompanied by the caption: “All eyez on the pitch tomorrow. Let’s go Reds!”

Whilst the main purpose of the post was undoubtedly to share his support for Liverpool, the guitarist was also likely hinting at the announcement that would be made on Monday.

Hilarious Manchester United dig posted by Frank Iero

Iero’s support for Liverpool extends past just this weekend, with the guitarist posting a hilarious dig towards the Reds’ rivals, Manchester United.

In the build-up to My Chemical Romance’s show at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester in February, Iero took to social media to write: “Tonight’s our night Manchester…”

An image of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah hilariously accompanied the caption, with the Egyptian not being a popular figure in Manchester, for obvious reasons.
