Crystal Palace vs Liverpool result predicted by supercomputer

Liverpool will look to extend their winning streak to eight games across all competitions this season when they take on Crystal Palace on Saturday.

After an affair that ran closer than Arne Slot would have liked, Liverpool beat Southampton 2-1 to progress in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Hugo Ekitike was sent off after scoring the winner, after the Frenchman bizarrely decided to celebrate by taking his shirt off.

And with the striker now unavailable, Alexander Isak is set to start through the middle for Slot’s side.

Isak looked starved of service at times against Southampton, but still managed to net his first goal for the Reds after capitalising on a superb piece of pressing from Federico Chiesa.

Liverpool are favourites to beat Crystal Palace

Liverpool attempted to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day, but the deal collapsed in the final hours.

The defender is expected to join the Reds on a free transfer next summer, creating an interesting sub-story to Saturday’s game.

And there is a further element of bad blood between the sides, with Crystal Palace beating Liverpool on penalties in the Community Shield at the start of the season.

The Eagles equalised twice against Slot’s side at Wembley, before emerging victorious from the spot.

And Oliver Glasner’s side are yet to lose since, representing the only other team in the Premier League to still be unbeaten this season.

Liverpool are favourites for Saturday’s clash, according to Opta’s supercomputer, which has given the Reds a 47 per cent chance of emerging with the three points.

The home side have been given a 28 per cent chance of causing an upset, whilst 24 per cent has left for a draw.

Liverpool have struggled against Crystal Palace in recent years

Between 2017 and 2022, Liverpool had a flawless record against Crystal Palace.

The Reds beat the Eagles in 10 consecutive Premier League meetings, even scoring seven past Roy Hodgson’s side in 2020.

But in recent years, Crystal Palace have proved resurgent, and Liverpool have found them a more difficult opponent.

In April 2024, Glasner’s side travelled to Anfield and won, with Eberechi Eze’s early goal proving the difference between the sides.

Eze has now moved on, but Crystal Palace remain a tricky opponent, and Slot’s side will have to be at their best to continue their winning streak.
