Liverpool warned as ‘frightening’ Premier League narrative emerges

Liverpool are top of the Premier League after the first five matches.

Liverpool are looking to defend their title, after Arne Slot took the English game by storm in his maiden season in the top-flight.

Liverpool edged past local rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby on 20 September to continue their 100 per cent start to the campaign.

However, there are some doubts over whether they can maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Liverpool News presents the exclusive opinion of iconic football commentator Ian Darke.

Liverpool warned by Premier League expert amid late goals trend

Liverpool have scored late goals in four of their five Premier League matches, and some observers see it as a sign that they are champions in the making.

Darke believes that the Reds are not certain to win the title, despite their constant ability to win games late on.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, he said: “They nearly always do win, and they’ve found a way with late goals in nearly every game so far.

“I think the frightening thing for Liverpool’s rivals is they’re top of the table with a 100 per cent
record, and they haven’t really hit their best form so far.

“They’re still bedding in players, and the games are proving to be quite hard work for them one way or another. So I don’t go along with the majority view that it’s Liverpool’s title already, particularly when they’ve signed Isak.

“I think there are still several chapters left to write. Yes, they’re very hot favourites, but if you
look at the actual games that are being played, you wouldn’t say this team are absolute ironcast certainties to win the title.

Particularly, I think there were signs from Arsenal the way they have performed, that they’re going to put in a serious challenge this season.

“Oh, it’s frightening how good they could be. If it’s Salah, Wirtz, Ekitike out left, Isak up front, if everybody’s fit and in form, that is a mighty tough attack for any defence to deal with.”

Liverpool will be even more dangerous

The last sentence from Darke is the one that Reds fans will agree with, their team have not got out of second gear yet, and once it all clicks, they could be unstoppable.

It is an extremely exciting time to be an Anfield faithful, and it could get even better in the next few months.

It it all comes together for Slot and Co, they are absolutely the frontrunners for the domestic title, and they will fancy their chances in the Champions League too.
