Rio Ngumoha starts, Mohamed Salah nowhere to be seen – Liverpool predicted XI vs Southampton
Liverpool turn their attention to Carabao Cup action after a 100 per cent start in the Premier League.
Liverpool beat Everton in a tense 2-1 victory on Saturday to continue their impressive start to their title defence, but they now look to the cup.
Liverpool lost to Newcastle in the final of the competition last season, with new Reds ace Alexander Isak scoring what turned out to be the winning goal.
Arne Slot will be looking to go one better this time around, after the disappointing afternoon at Wembley in March.
First up, Southampton travel to Anfield for the third round of the Carabao Cup on 23 September.

Arne Slot to make several changes for Liverpool vs Southampton
Slot has already confirmed that Mohamed Salah will not play against the Saints, and four other Reds stars will also miss the Anfield contest.
Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are also set to be rested after all five players played all 90 minutes of the last three matches.
Giorgio Mamardashvili is expected to make his debut in the contest, and he may not be the only debutant for the hosts.
While Conor Bradley is predicted to remain at right-back after making three interceptions and one clearance against the Blues, per Sofascore, and Andy Robertson might start on the left, to give the side some vital experience.
Giovanni Leoni might be handed his Reds bow in the contest against the Championship side, partnering Joe Gomez, who could make a rare start.
At the base of midfield, Wataru Endo is predicted to be alongside Trey Nyoni, with the 17-year-old potentially making just his seventh appearance for the Reds.
Curtis Jones is expected to complete the midfield, replacing Szoboszlai, after Slot ruled the Hungarian out of the contest, after his effort against the Toffees, when he won four of eight ground duels.

Rio Ngumoha and Alexander Isak set to start for Liverpool
Rio Ngumoha and Federico Chiesa are predicted to operate from the flanks, as both are handed a chance to impress against lower opposition.
Finally, Isak is expected to start the clash over Hugo Ekitike, as he builds up his fitness after missing a huge chunk of the preparations for the campaign.
Isak had just 10 touches in the derby after coming off the bench, and will be looking to notch his maiden goal for his new club in the cup.
Slot’s side should have enough to get past the Championship outfit, even with 10 changes to the starting line-up and no Salah in the team.
