Liverpool news round-up: Fans all say same thing about Mohamed Salah as Anfield announcement made
Liverpool are coming off the back of another terrific week, with two more victories continuing a perfect start to the season for Arne Slot’s side.
Anfield hosted matches against Atletico Madrid and Everton, with the Reds emerging victorious through different routes.
Liverpool will play Southampton in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, as they look to kick off their third competition in the same way.
Here, Liverpool News rounds up all of the latest news from the last 24 hours.

Liverpool backed to win Premier League after rivals clash
Liverpool were already regarded as favourites for the Premier League title, but Sunday’s events would have only worked to strengthen that belief.
Manchester City travelled to Arsenal and opened the scoring through Erling Haaland, but Gabriel Martinelli’s stoppage-time equaliser saw the points shared.
Opta’s supercomputer has increased Liverpool’s chance of winning the league to 60.51 per cent, following the draw.
Rio Ngumoha set to start against Southampton
The visit of Southampton on Tuesday should provide Slot with plenty of opportunity for rotation.
The Dutchman will not want to take risks, but with Will Still’s side facing a terrible start to the season, he will feel safe in resting several key players.
With that in mind, Dr Rajpal Brar exclusively told Liverpool News that Rio Ngumoha could be in line to start against Southampton.
“As cup games come along, you might see him get more minutes in the starting XI, but they will be very methodical with his minutes and build up,” the injury expert said.
Mohamed Salah Ballon d’Or hopes renewed
Liverpool fans are hoping that Mohamed Salah can become just the second Red to win the Ballon d’Or after Michael Owen, on Monday.
Ousmane Dembele, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha are the other favourites, with the former holding the biggest chance after winning the treble with Paris Saint-Germain.
But according to Marca, it is not guaranteed that Dembele will win the award over Salah, with maximum effort taken to ensure that the winner is kept secret until the very last moment.
Liverpool fans reacted universally to that news, as they felt Salah was the only other serious contender to land the award.
My Chemical Romance to headline Anfield
US rock band My Chemical Romance will headline Anfield next year, as part of their ‘The Black Parade’ tour.
The announcement comes after a summer full of music at Liverpool’s home, with Lana Del Rey and Dua Lipa taking to the stage.
The show will take place on 30 June 2026, with tickets to go on sale on Friday 26 September.
