Liverpool fans all say the same thing about Mohamed Salah after ‘shock’ Ballon d’Or update
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is a contender for the Ballon d’Or award.
Salah was considered as a favourite for the award after his sensational Liverpool form, but the hype went away after the Reds were eliminated from the Champions League.
Salah was a key part in Arne Slot’s Premier League title-winning Liverpool team, but those exploits are not seen as enough to win the accolade.
Paris Saint-Germain knocked Liverpool out, and Ousmane Dembele is the favourite to be crowned as the latest winner, but there may be a new twist.

Ballon d’Or takes shock turn amid new developments
Liverpool star Salah was tipped for the Ballon d’Or by Cafu in March, but his chances have nosedived since, with Dembele and Barcelona stars Raphinha and Lamine Yamal reaching the latter stages of Europe’s elite competition.
A report from Marca’s print edition on 22 September claims that the winner will not be revealed until the last minute to avoid the furore when Real Madrid boycotted the award last time.
It states that it is not guaranteed that Dembele wins the award, and France Football have made “maximum effort” to ensure that the winner is a secret, in a shock development.
As per Sofascore, Salah took 3.23 shots per game and played 2.1 key passes per game in all competitions, so he would be a worthy winner.

Liverpool fans think Mohamed Salah has a chance
The report has given Reds supporters renewed hope that Salah can win the prestigious award for the first time.
His best finish previously is fifth place in both 2019 and 2022, and he should at the very least finish on the podium this time around, if he does not win it.
Salah deserves to win the award if he was named the winner, that is not a question, he had a remarkable campaign last season with 34 goals and 23 assists in all competitions, almost single-handedly guiding the Reds to the league title.
Dembele had a solid campaign, but he could only muster 35 goals and 16 assists, a total of six goal contributions less than the Egyptian, although he did win Europe’s biggest prize.
Raphinha got 34 goals and 25 assists, but his Barcelona teammate Yamal is the most egregious frontrunner, as he notched just 18 goals and 25 assists, a minuscule figure compared to Salah.
Salah always goes under the radar when it comes to this award, only time will tell, whether that will change.
