Danny Murphy thrilled with ‘brilliant’ footage of Liverpool star on Match of the Day vs Everton

Liverpool continued their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday.

Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Everton in the Merseyside Derby ensured the Reds remained top of the table with a 100% record.

Arne Slot once again got the better of David Moyes, who is yet to win a game at Anfield in his entire career.

Slot decided to drop Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz from the starting XI, but it didn’t matter too much with other players stepping up.

Danny Murphy hails ‘terrific’ Liverpool star

Ryan Gravenberch has been one of Liverpool’s best players this season, putting in brilliant performances week after week.

He grabbed a goal and an assist against Everton and was key to everything good Liverpool did in the game.

Danny Murphy was full of praise for the Dutchman on Match of the Day on 20 September, complimenting his recent performances: “The deep midfielder has been brilliant by the way, he’s been terrific the last three games.”

Murphy broke down Hugo Ekitike’s goal, assisted by Gravenberch and highlighted how important the midfielder’s role was.

He said: “Gravenberch, he’s in that space, the holding midfield player, he’s gone past Mac Allister, he’s gone past Szboszlai, super little pass into the forward Ekitike, who’s got another goal.”

Gravenberch’s ability was on full display on Saturday, and Murphy was correct in saying what a crucial part of the team he is.

Ryan Gravenberch has been on a different level this season

Gravenberch has become one of Liverpool’s best signings under FSG after an inconsistent start to his Reds career.

Having not played much under Jurgen Klopp after his move from Bayern Munich, the Dutchman has been revolutionised under Slot.

Since switching to a deeper, holding midfield role, Gravenberch has looked like one of the best midfielders in the world.

His performances at Anfield have rightfully earned him plaudits, and he will be key to any success Liverpool will have this year.
