Richard Keys not happy with Liverpool announcement pre-Everton, wants ex-player to ‘have a word’
Liverpool took on Everton in a highly anticipated Merseyside derby at Anfield, and there were tributes paid before the game.
Arne Slot’s side headed into the clash on the back of four straight league wins, with Liverpool leaving it late to secure victory in all of their matches so far.
Liverpool legend Joey Jones passed away at the age of 70 during the summer, and Bobby Graham also passed away in recent weeks at the age of 80, and tributes were paid to both ahead of the match.
The teams lined up in the centre circle for a minute’s applause, but broadcaster Richard Keys was unhappy with one thing he heard in regard to the fallen Liverpool heroes.

Richard Keys slams Anfield stadium announcer
As both teams took to the centre circle at Anfield, ahead of tributes to Graham and Jones, the stadium announcer gave a brief explanation over who both legends were.
- Jones won two European Cups during his time at Liverpool, and made 100 appearances from left-back in the 1970s.
- The defender also won a UEFA Cup, a First Division title and the European Super Cup.
- Graham was a centre-forward who scored a hattrick on his Liverpool league debut, and scored 31 times in 101 games between 1964 and 1972.
Keys was unhappy, as the stadium announcer reportedly did not mention either of Jones’ European Cup triumphs, as one of the biggest marks of a wonderful legacy at Liverpool.
“I think Joey won the European Cup, too, not just he UEFA Cup,” Keys stated on beIN SPORTS.
“Have a word when you get back, Jason [McAteer].
“I don’t know who the announcer is these days, but the previous one wouldn’t have made that mistake.”

Liverpool see off Everton in close encounter
Following the tributes, Liverpool and Everton played out an entertaining Merseyside Derby, and The Reds came out on top again.
Goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Hugo Ekitike saw Liverpool race into a lead, but they had to hold their nerve after Idrissa Gana Gueye pulled a goal back, and Everton ended the game well.
Liverpool are flying high at the top of the Premier League, and Slot will hope to win his second title in as many seasons at Anfield, and this win could prove vital by the end of the season.
