Mohamed Salah must desperately help Alexander Isak in Liverpool vs Everton after new reveal

Liverpool’s talisman, Mohamed Salah, fired back at his critics with a goal and an assist inside six minutes against Atletico Madrid.

Alexander Isak made his Liverpool debut but was brought off after 58 minutes as Arne Slot continues to ramp up his fitness following his summer strike, which led to his transfer.

Jamie Carragher believes Isak has something Erling Haaland doesn’t as the Swede looks to make his mark at Anfield following his £125million move to Anfield.

Although it was exciting to see him make his debut, Isak was quiet in his first game at Liverpool and will be keen to score his first goal for the club as soon as possible.

Mohamed Salah will need to lead by example, given Isak’s record vs Everton

With Salah back among the goals and assists, it’s the perfect time for the Merseyside derby. The Egyptian has scored eight goals and assisted two in 13 games against Everton, according to Sofascore, but will have to lead by example if Isak starts against the Blues.

Isak has faced Liverpool’s city rivals just four times, scoring once. While it would be unwise to bet against the £125m striker, Slot will be counting on Salah to strike once again against the Toffees.

So far this season, Salah has three goals and two assists in all competitions. The former AS Roma winger has not exactly been himself this season, but betting against the PFA Player of the Season for 2024/25 would be unwise indeed.

Isak will take some time to get used to Liverpool’s style of play

At Newcastle, Isak was the undisputed star of the show. As a result, he expected the ball to be played into him exactly the way he wanted it.

At Liverpool, he will be unable to call the shots like that.

Stan Collymore pointed out on X during the Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid clash that Isak will need to be a lot more patient at Anfield.

That said, Isak will explode into life in Red, and when he does, Liverpool are going to be unstoppable.

Last season, when Salah was off the pace and not among the goals or assists, Liverpool looked a bit toothless at times.

Now, Isak is here to share in the goals, which will take a fair amount of pressure off of Salah.
