Arne Slot sent warning by ex-manager as new Liverpool issue arises

Liverpool have had the perfect start to the new season so far.

Liverpool have won all four of their Premier League matches and started their Champions League campaign with a 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool look in pole position to retain their title, after showing a resiliency that is usually associated with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds side.

However, it may not be all rosy for the Anfield outfit.

Liverpool News presents the exclusive opinion of former football manager Martin Allen.

New Liverpool problem highlighted by Martin Allen

Liverpool have relied on late winners so far, but Allen thinks there may a bigger problem for Arne Slot and Co.

The former Leicester and Brentford manager believes that the influx of new players could cause issues for the Reds.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, he said: “Apart from Man City, it has been very difficult to win the Premier League back-to-back. Once you’ve had success, often players can get a little bit lacklustre and a bit sloppy and take things for granted.

“Liverpool have got a lot on their plate, but they’ve signed new players who are quite exciting, and it’ll be interesting to see how now that’s gonna pan out.

“Have they got enough to win the Champions League? Have they got enough to win the Premier League? Have they got enough to win them both?

“Well only time now will tell, but, yeah, they’ve spent a lot of money, but they’ve also got a lot of money out.

“So players that are not gonna be playing, which for a manager is very important, players that are not gonna be playing, unhappy, you don’t want them around the building.

“You can’t build up any positive influence because you’ve always got people sniping at you, thinking they should be in the team.”

Liverpool have enough games to go around

Allen is not wrong. There are times when players will have to miss out, like Federico Chiesa not being selected for the Champions League squad.

However, it is a squad game, and Slot will have enough matches to keep everyone happy in the long term.

The players know their role in the squad, if they are not happy, then they can push to leave, but why would anybody want to leave this Reds side?
