This is why Alexis Mac Allister must start for Liverpool vs Everton
Alexis Mac Allister has not been himself so far at Liverpool this season, but doubting him now would be a grave mistake.
After making his Anfield debut, Alexander Isak’s chances of featuring versus Everton have been revealed, but Arne Slot will need to rotate his squad after an intense clash with Atletico Madrid.
Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai have played every minute so far this season and could be in line for a rest, although Slot could wait until the Carabao Cup clash with Southampton next week.
Meanwhile, despite creating five chances against Atletico, Micah Richards has told Florian Wirtz what he’s doing wrong ahead of the Merseyside derby.
All of this could open the door for Mac Allister once again.

Alexis Mac Allister cameo against Atletico Madrid proves he must start vs Everton
Slot opted to start with a double pivot of Gravenberch and Szoboszlai against Atletico, and while it worked perfectly against the flat midfield Diego Simeone fielded, Liverpool need Mac Allister‘s fiery temperament in the derby.
Although he only played 32 minutes after replacing Cody Gakpo on Wednesday, it was enough to silence the critics who have surfaced since the start of the season.
Via Sofascore, Mac Allister took 24 touches and played 15 accurate passes. It was by no means a vintage display, but his steely determination to win the ball is why he must play against Everton.
Although the game is at Anfield, the Blues will be desperate to bring an end to Liverpool’s incredible five-game streak of winning games late on. With a 100 per cent ground and aerial duel success rate against the Spaniards, Mac Allister is crucial to winning any midfield battle.

Mac Allister can now put injuries behind him
The Argentine was lucky to avoid serious injury against Burnley after taking a horrible challenge to the ankle, but in truth, he has been battling with his fitness since the end of last season.
Slot provided a tailored training plan for the former Brighton star to get over an injury that he was battling with at the end of the title-winning year.
Now, with the midfielder afforded a bit of a rest, he can prepare for the Merseyside derby, where he can hopefully make a winning impression yet again.
