Alexander Isak sends first message to Liverpool fans since Anfield debut
Alexander Isak made his first Liverpool appearance since signing for the club in a £125million Premier League record transfer.
Supporters were thrilled when it was announced the Swedish striker would start against Atletico Madrid and although Isak was quiet on his debut, it offered an exciting first look at him in Red.
Jamie Carragher believes Isak is a better all-round player than Erling Haaland after some clever twists and turns at Anfield.
It’s clear he’s still unfit but was still given his first start. Ally McCoist believes Hugo Ekitike should be worried about the amount of game time he will be afforded now that Isak has arrived.

Alexander Isak sends first message to Liverpool fans after debut
Despite starting, Isak was only on the pitch for 58 minutes but in that time, he showcased his pace, fluidity and heads-up approach to playing.
It’s already very clear that he will be an incredible player for Arne Slot. Mohamed Salah looked particularly happy to have him on the pitch, and it may be a small part of why the Egyptian was in such fine form on Wednesday evening.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday (18 September), Isak sent his first message to supporters, saying, “Amazing night to make my debut. Thank you for the warm welcome Reds! YNWA.”
Liverpool fans predictably flooded his comments with messages of welcome and encouragement.
Isak will need time to get up to speed
Liverpool left it very late to get a deal done for the former Newcastle United forward, but after spending the summer on strike, Isak is unfit and greatly in need of match rhythm.
Judging him based on less than an hour of football would be akin to criticising players for their form in pre-season friendlies.
Of course, football waits for no one but Isak will waste no time in getting back into shape, and the Liverpool coaches will be paying close attention to his progress.
Given his injury history, it’s particularly important that Liverpool don’t rush him into playing more football than he’s ready to.
