Liverpool make European history but Alexander Isak will have his head in his hands
Alexander Isak will want to go down in Liverpool history now that he has arrived at Anfield.
There was a moment when Liverpool believed that Isak would not arrive at Anfield over the summer.
But Arne Slot’s side continued to push with Liverpool agreeing a British record of £125million with Newcastle for Isak.
After such a long-drawn-out saga concerning his transfer, Isak will be hoping to live up to the hype.

Liverpool scores two in Champions League in two minutes
Liverpool took on Atletico Madrid in their UEFA Champions League opening game at Anfield.
The Reds were preparing to take the confrontation by storm and ended up doing that and more inside the first 10 minutes.
Four minutes after the first whistle, Andy Robertson deflected a shot in from a free kick taken by Mohamed Salah. Minutes later, Salah put a sensational shot past Jan Oblak to make it two for the home side.
All this happened within two minutes and six seconds, which made it the fastest Liverpool has scored two goals in a European game.
- Salah has now scored 45 goals in the Champions League
- Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers’ two goals in four minutes against Celtic is the shortest time a player has scored a brace in the competition
Isak started over Hugo Ekitke in Liverpool’s clash against Atletico. However, he watched on as Liverpool went two goals up before he had touched the ball.
The former Newcastle striker ended up giving way to Ekitike in minute 57, with Atletico equalising around 20 minutes later. However, Virgil van Dijk headed home with winner during stoppage time to guarantee his first win as a Liverpool player in the Champions League.

Who are Liverpool’s top five goalscorers in the Champions League?
Liverpool has seen several star players reach elite goalscoring heights in the Champions League throughout their history.
There is currently a huge gap between Salah and the rest, who currently sit at 45 goals, having long surpassed Steven Gerrard, who ended his career at Liverpool on 30 goals.
Sadio Mane ranks third with 24, and Roberto Firmino follows with 23. Dirk Kuyt completes the list with 12 goals.
There is no doubt that Salah will be looking to add to that tally as Liverpool navigates through the competition this season. Having scored three goals in nine starts for the Reds last season, he will be hoping to at least double that number this period.
