Alexander-Arnold could miss Liverpool return after Champions League calamity
Real Madrid could be without Trent Alexander-Arnold when they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool in November.
Liverpool drew Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage, with the clash set to be the first return of the defender since his June departure.
Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool for just £8.5million in June, after running down his contract to the final days.
Fans of the Reds were furious with the England international, who had risen through the ranks in the Liverpool academy before starring for the first team.
Despite the tenuous situation, however, Ally McCoist suggested that Liverpool fans will welcome Alexander-Arnold back to Anfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold suffers injury for Real Madrid
Alexander-Arnold was dropped by Real Madrid for just his second competitive game, amid what has been a tough start for the defender in Spain.
And it only got worse for the 26-year-old on Tuesday, on what was meant to be a momentous occasion.
Alexander-Arnold was selected from the start for his Champions League debut for Real Madrid, as Xabi Alonso’s side got their European campaign underway against Marseille.
| Liverpool – Champions League 2025/26 | Date |
| Atletico Madrid (H) | 17 Sept |
| Galatasaray (A) | 30 Sept |

| Real Madrid (H) | 4 Nov |
But after just four minutes, the right-back was sitting on the turf and had to be substituted.
Arancha Rodriguez confirmed on Wednesday that Alexander-Arnold has suffered a muscle injury to his hamstring, and is expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks.
With Liverpool set to face Real Madrid in just under eight weeks on 4 November, the defender is set for a race to be fit for the trip to Anfield.
Trent Alexander-Arnold may be happy to miss Anfield trip
Despite McCoist’s bizarre comments, there should be no confusion over what awaits Alexander-Arnold at Anfield if he does make an appearance.
If there is anything that can be said of football fans, it is that they hold a grudge. And Liverpool fans have a massive one against the defender they once heralded as one of their own.
In the eyes of many fans, Alexander-Arnold’s actions were ones of ultimate betrayal, and they are ready to make the 26-year-old hear it.
The England international will know that better than anyone, and may let out a sigh of relief should he miss the game through injury.
