Milos Kerkez axed in two changes – Liverpool predicted XI vs Atletico Madrid

Liverpool begin their Champions League campaign against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

Liverpool have started their Premier League season with four wins, with a late winner in each of those contests.

Attention now turns to Europe’s elite tournament, a competition which the Reds last won under Jurgen Klopp in 2019.

Eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain knocked Liverpool out of the competition last season, and Arne Slot will be looking to get further than the round of 16 this season.

Milos Kerkez dropped as Liverpool face Atletico Madrid

Kerkez had a horror show in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Burnley, as he was replaced by Andy Robertson after just 38 minutes.

Robertson made five key passes and created one big chance after he came on at Turf Moor, while Kerkez failed to create anything, as per Sofascore.

The Scotsman is expected to start against Diego Simeone’s men at Anfield on Wednesday, but he might not be the only change in the backline.

Conor Bradley is predicted to return for Liverpool at right-back, after winning three of seven ground duels and all three aerial duels that he attempted, for a 60 per cent success rate.

Alisson, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk are expected to retain their places in the back five for the contest against the Spanish side.

Alexis Mac Allister could be benched for Liverpool

Mac Allister went off at half-time after a tackle from Lesley Ugochukwu, and he might not be risked for the intense clash with Simeone’s side.

Ryan Gravenberch made four key passes and recorded a 91 per cent pass accuracy against the Clarets, and he is predicted to partner Dominic Szoboszlai at the base of midfield.

Florian Wirtz struggled to break down Scott Parker’s side, but he might be given another chance against Atletico.

The German international made four key passes and had two shots blocked against the newly-promoted side, as he tried to make an impact.

Mohamed Salah is predicted to start on the right-hand side after his last-minute penalty exploits, with Cody Gakpo expected to be handed the nod on the other flank.

The Dutchman constantly tried to make things happen against Burnley, with 13 cross attempts, of which only two were successful.

Hugo Ekitike is predicted to lead the line, due to Alexander Isak not being fully fit at the moment, but the Frenchman needs to have a better performance than he did at Turf Moor.

It may be a concern that Atletico play a similar style of defensive football, but Slot cannot count on Isak at the moment.
