Burnley vs Liverpool postponement update as Met Office issues weather warning for Lancashire

Liverpool’s great start to the season will have fans excited to see their side return to Premier League action as they take on Burnley this Sunday.

Arne Slot’s team have not struggled to find the back of the net so far this term, and fans will be excited about the fact Mohamed Salah has an impressive goal-scoring record against Burnley.

Liverpool supporters will be also be annoyed that Michael Oliver has been announced as the referee against Burnley.

Another worry for fans ahead of the match at Turf Moor is the weather potentially posing an issue.

Yellow weather warnings announced by Met Office

The Met Office’s website shows that almost all of England has been given a yellow weather warning as wind is expected throughout the country.

Both Burnley and Liverpool are areas that could be impacted by wind and as a result, face potential travel delays for those via road, rail, and air.

Liverpool fans will be disappointed as the highly anticipated debut of Alexander Isak will likely see him come off the bench. It is expected that Hugo Ekitike will start through the middle.

Burnley were beaten in their last match in a 3-2 defeat away to Manchester United.

Liverpool will look to continue their perfect start to the Premier League season and make it four wins from four games.

The fine work to begin the season was recognised by the Premier League as Arne Slot was named Premier League Manager of the Month for August.

The relief for both sets of teams and their supporters is that the warning put out by the Met Office is set to occur starting at 8:00 PM on Sunday, which is long after the match will end, as kick off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.

This means it’s extremely unlikely that the game will be postponed.

Liverpool have a chance to make a statement

It is apparent that Liverpool are heavy favourites against this Burnley team.

With the way the Liverpool attack has looked this season, this match allows a chance for their attack to truly shine.

Burnley have conceded six goals across their first three matches, which showcases how vulnerable Scott Parker’s team is at the back.

With the fine form of everyone for Liverpool going forward, this is a game that can end in a rout.

If this Liverpool team were able to put four past a very solid Bournemouth team, they would make Burnley suffer.
