Every Liverpool manager to win Premier League Manager of the Month after Arne Slot announcement

Arne Slot has been named the Premier League Manager of the Month for August.

Liverpool won their opening three Premier League matches, giving them a 100 per cent start to the campaign.

Slot is the only manager to be in that position, and will hope to extend it when Liverpool take on Burnley on 14 September.

Here, Liverpool News looks at every Reds manager to win the award.

Roy Evans

Roy Evans replaced Graeme Souness as Reds manager in 1994 and would serve as Anfield boss until 1998.

Evans won the award back-to-back in December 1995 and January 1996, and then never managed to pick it up again.

He left in November 1998 after an unusual arrangement where he shared the manager role with Gerard Houllier did not work out.

Gerard Houllier

The late Gerard Houllier initially worked alongside Evans, but took the role on by himself when the Bootle-born man departed.

The Frenchman won his first manager of the month award in December 1999, the second was shared with Phil Thompson in March 2002, and his third came in October 2002.

Houllier’s time with the Reds is fondly remembered for the 2000/01 campaign, when his side won a treble with the UEFA Cup, FA Cup and League Cup.

Phil Thompson

Phil Thompson, the Reds’ European Cup-winning captain, stepped in to manage the club when Houllier was ill.

The legendary Anfield star picked up the award on his own in November 2001, when he was standing in for Houllier and he won a second when the duo shared the award.

When Houllier departed in 2004, Thompson left his role as assistant manager.

Rafael Benitez

Rafael Benitez, who is best known for the historic 2005 Champions League win, won the award five times.

The Spaniard won his first two were in November and December 2005, his next win came in January 2007, then he took it again in October 2008 and March 2009.

His Reds reign turned sour in 2010, and he left the club after a season in which they finished seventh in the league.

Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers managed the club in a turbulent era, but still nearly won the Premier League title.

The Northern Irishman won the award twice in the 2013/14 campaign as the Reds fought for the title, picking up the award for the first time in August 2013 and then again in March 2014.

Rodgers departed in October 2015 after a 1-1 draw with Everton, with the Reds in 10th place in the league table.

Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp took Liverpool back to where they belonged after years of misery, when he replaced Rodgers.

Klopp’s first award came in September 2016, and he had to wait until December 2018 for the next one to arrive.

He won it again in March 2019 before picking up five in one season, which is a record, in the 2019-20 campaign. (August, September, November, December, January).

He won the award again in May 2021 and January 2024, to take his tally to 10, before his exit at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Arne Slot

Slot has already won the award twice in his Anfield reign.

The Dutchman won his first in November 2024 and his latest was his second.

He will surely add many more in his spell on Merseyside.
