Jeff Stelling backs Liverpool to smash record in Premier League return vs Burnley
Liverpool return to Premier League action with a trip to Burnley on Sunday.
Arne Slot‘s Liverpool have started their Premier League defence in perfect fashion with three wins from their first three matches.
Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool has dominated the headlines ahead of the clash, but the Swedish international may not start at Turf Moor on 14 September.
Liverpool could go with an unchanged line-up from the side that secured a 1-0 victory over Arsenal in their last match.
Liverpool backed to smash Burnley record
Liverpool are expected to beat Burnley, with the Opta supercomputer giving them a 69 per cent chance of victory, and Burnley just a 13.9 per cent chance.
Jeff Stelling also believes that the Reds will win, smashing Burnley’s 25-game unbeaten home record in the process.
Giving his predictions for talkSPORT on 11 September, Stelling said: “Sunday at two o’clock sees Liverpool try to maintain their 100 per cent record at Burnley.
“Now, Burnley’s last home defeat was April 2024, 25 games in all competitions ago, the problem is they don’t face Liverpool at Turf Moor every week.
“When they do, they lose, Liverpool have won their last six visits, and I think they will maintain that 100 per cent record this season.
“I can only see an away win here.”

Liverpool should beat Burnley comfortably on Premier League return
The international break came at the worst possible time for Slot’s side, as they were brilliant against the Gunners and looked like a well-oiled machine as opposed to the chaos of the previous two matches.
The likes of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate had been shaky at the back against Bournemouth and Newcastle, but they were a lot more solid against Mikel Arteta’s side in an impressive victory.

- The Reds have not lost against Burnley since January 2021, when the Clarets won at Anfield
Results against the lower teams will be just as important as the big matches in terms of the title race, so Slot needs his side to come through with flying colours against the Clarets.
Scott Parker’s side will represent a tough challenge, but it is one that the Reds should be confident about, albeit with a little bit of caution.
The newly-promoted outfit have nothing to lose by trying to win, so it could be a dangerous match for Slot’s side, especially with their momentum being wiped away from the break.
