Ally McCoist has urged Liverpool fans to do one thing when Alexander-Arnold returns to Anfield
Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to return to Anfield to take on his former team Liverpool for the first time in November.
Liverpool fans were left outraged when Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid in June, after letting his contract at Anfield run down to the final weeks.
The right-back had been a fan favourite with the Reds after emerging through the academy, and winning several trophies.
But Alexander-Arnold said it was his “ambition” that led him to join Real Madrid, a comment that only angered fans of his former team further.
Ibrahima Konate could follow Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, with the defender’s contract at Liverpool set to run out next summer.

Ally McCoist makes startling Liverpool prediction
Alexander-Arnold was not selected for the England squad, with the defender struggling in the early stages of his career in Spain.
Liverpool fans took great pleasure in the news, clearly demonstrating their leftover grievances at the right-back’s decision.
Those frustrations are expected to be heard loud and clear when Alexander-Arnold returns to Anfield in this season, but Ally McCoist told TNT Sports that he expects something quite different.
“Sadly, I think it will be mixed,” the former Rangers striker said. “I get it, I know what football fans are like.
“I think the majority of Liverpool fans totally appreciate and understand and are thankful for Trent’s services, which were fantastic.
“There’ll be an edge, of course, you go back and there’ll be a little bit of an edge, and some of the fans will give him a little bit of a hard time, goes without saying.
“But I would think and I would hope that the majority of them will be pleased to see him back and welcome him back.”
Ally McCoist has it totally wrong on Trent Alexander-Arnold prediction
If McCoist believes Liverpool fans will welcome Alexander-Arnold back to Anfield with welcome arms, he is in for a rude awakening.
For many, the England international’s actions were viewed as the ultimate betrayal. Not only did he leave the club that he had called home for his entire career thus far, but he did it in a way that left the Reds high and dry.

If Alexander-Arnold had sat down with decision-makers at Anfield and agreed to sign a new contract at Liverpool with the promise that he could leave when the time was right, fans would not have been so angry.
Sure, it would still hurt to lose one of your own, but the 26-year-old would have been leaving for his desired move having earned Liverpool a sizable fee in the process.
Instead, he ran down his contract and left the Reds with scraps for the services of a world-class player. For many, that is unforgiveable, and Alexander-Arnold will hear it in November.
